I'm never blocked. Never. I can draw, paint and design without running out of ideas or running out of steam. It's my identity and my escape. I'm one with it. Really.
But there's a flaw. Just when I thought it was all was nice and comfy-cozy and perfect, I realized that there IS an area where I'm often blocked. I can't seem to make a blog post without editing the life out of it. I micromanage each word and each pixel until it's all different, but not necessarily better.
So there it is. My perfection streak has surfaced. But that shadowy figure was met head-on by my muse, who just happened to be listening to Leonard Cohen at the time, and confronted the shadow with the words to his song, "Anthem":
"Ring the bells that stil can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There's a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in."
No more fear when clicking "upload" or "publish". If there are cracks in any of it, I'll just let the light shine in.
What a great song quote and one I really need to hear most days.

I love your journal pages, and I agree with the sentiment from the song, as well... I have a copy of these lines stuck above my computer monitor as I'm typing, but I never realized it was from a song-- thank you for posting this, Barbara!

I think we're soul twins. :) This is further proven by the fact that Anthem is my favourite song. My most treasured possession is a note my father made Leonard write me when they ran into one another in Portuguese Park in Montreal. They are old acquaintances, so Leonard graciously scribbled something on a piece of note paper. Then, my father washed it in the pocket of his jeans, so the next time he saw Leonard, Leonard wrote the note again.
Most. Gorgeous. Gift. Ever.
Anyway...I adore you. I thought you should know. :)
