Here I am, still jonesing on orange, yellow and red. These pages were worked in my larger, encyclopedia journal, and are six layers deep. My first thought was to add another graphic image penned with my rapidograph, but not all of the background media cooperated with the india ink. I finally resolved this with a combination of black china marker, acrylics, and conte crayon. The rapidograph was able to make some lines and dots along the left edge and bottom right. It's not finished yet, but I thought I'd share it anyway. It might get too personal later.
Here's what the background looked like before I painted the image. It could have taken lots of directions. Before the circles and penned doodles, I thought this had more of a springtime vibe. But it is autumn after all, and when I leave myself to my instincts, I usually end up in sync with the season.
When studio time is sparse, sometimes I paint papers, new or otherwise. The papers on these pages were originally part of the batch below. The ledger paper was left over from a recent Kelly Kilmer workshop. And speaking of Kelly, she is ready to offer some of her own handmade journals for sale. This is a rare opportunity, so if I were you, I'd pop right on over to her website and gobble them up (Thanksgiving turkey pun intended). There are only a few, and they're very reasonably priced!
Who knows where these papers will end up. If I remember, I'll snap a pic of what I'm working on when I finally decide to use them. But truthfully, that could be years from now. Or maybe even tomorrow. And speaking of tomorrow, have a Happy Thanksgiving!
I love your son! Too funny! Great page! The colors are so pretty. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Your journal pages are so beautifully layered and richly colored. I am pleased to be able to see them before they become too personal to share.
