The Arty Girlz theme this week is "favorite song", and the Crazy Amigo challenge is "old timer". I didn't plan it this way, but when I was finished I noticed that I was able to combine the two in one piece.
My "old timer" is scanned from a February 1917 issue of National Geographic magazine. I was able to pick up a few of the very early issues at a library sale, and I scan them as needed. After he and his wife and child were printed onto matte photo paper and cut out, I began the background on glossy cardstock, using a lot of different Adirondack and Nick Bantock inks, Marvy Markers, bird and heart stamps from Urban Lily, the mod garden stamp from JudyKins, and the Anna Griffin flower stamp from All Night Media. On top of all this, I added rub-ons from Heather Bailey and 7Gypsies. The lush and sunny over-grown garden with the blessing of a child in old age was inspired by the song "What A Wonderful World", one of my all-time favorites, made famous by Satchmo himself, Louis Armstrong.
And last but not least, I launched a second blog today! ArtiPhacts will be the spot for some of my tutorials, my artwork which is not related to the blog challenges, and some general musings on living an artistic life. Today you'll find a short post and a tutorial. Please click the link, stop by and let me know what you think!
Have a great day, Everyone! Happy July!
