"Nature" is the theme for this week's Arty Girlz challenge, and this time, instead of making something 2-D, I decided to make a couple of dimensional, completely-by-hand flowers.
I found a wonderful blog with fabulous flower tutorials. If you are interested in seeing how I made these, you can find the information at Joanne's blog, Mainly Flowers.
Both flowers were hand cut using the same petal template. The stamens were made using a Punch Bunch hand-held die-cut punch. The flower on the left is unadorned, simply cut from ledger paper, assembled and glued. The petals of flower on the right were 
painted with forever green perfect pearls, then dusted lightly with turquoise gem VersaMagic chalk ink, heat-set and glued. The stamens were pounced with gingerbread VersaMagic chalk ink, then heat-set and glued. The photo at right will give you an idea of the finished size. Each flower measures approximately 2-1/2 inches in diameter, and sits approximately 1/2 inch high at the tallest point of the stamens.
I have a project in mind for both of these and can't wait to get started. These are so quick and easy to make, so perfectly customizable, and so much fun, that I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of them!
