"Recycled" is the theme for this week's Arty Girlz challenge. When you think about it, it's probably just as easy to find collage and mixed-media artwork containing recycled bits of things as it is to find ones with all new elements. Dani Rogall and I had a swap a few weeks back. I have already posted the wonderful things that she made for me, and if you're interested, you can find them here. Now it's time for me to show the things that I sent to her. Above is my "House of Fairy Tales", which has at the top, a very large and wonderful rhinestone that was once part of a broach that I found at an antique store and fell in love with. And, around the periphery of the house is vintage tinsel, recycled from Christmas past, also found gently used, at a second-hand store. Other elements include a snippet of gold French border, some tiny blue jewels, a scrapbook paper background, a variety of rub-ons, gold Krylon pen and an image from Dover. The substrate is my absolute favorite for sturdy shapes: museum board. I *love* museum board and will use it in place of almost anything else when a hefty substrate is called for.
Also part of our swap was an ATC triptych. The substrate is black cardstock and the background for all three ATCs is RubberStamped "acanthus" stamp, colored with a variety of inks. Square faces are from Hampton Arts, and the round face is from Inkadinkadoo. German scrap, black beads and flowers from Close to My Heart and K&Company were also used, along with dimensional word stickers from K&Company.
Have a great day, Everyone!!
You guys are lucky to have each other to share art and the spirit of sharing. Lovely work!
