This is the first time - - ever - - that I have posted something for a challenge that was not specifically made for that challenge. But when TT came up with "spring" as the theme for the week, I couldn't get my oldie but goodie PSX bunny stamp out of my brain! Nor could I forget the spring that I made and sold so many of these tiny gift bags! So I went rummaging through old stuff and found one, maybe two of these left-overs, and decided it was worth the post!
I remember it as if it were yesterday. The background paper is inkjet printed, very pale pink on white in one of several patterns that I had designed and saved to - - remember these?. . .floppy disc! It's folded paper bag style and cut at the top with decorative edge scissors. The bunny was stamped and embossed black, then colored with water colors. His tail is white Liquid Applique by Marvy (do they even make this stuff anymore?). I still have the tube, but the stuff inside has hardened and yellowed with age and is unusable now. The snippet of red paper is stamped repeatedly in white pigment ink with a stamp from the PSX mini pixie set. All of these things are stamping relics, but I thought it would be fun to step back a bit and revisit an old friend, so to speak. I do love the bunny stamp and am sure that I'll use him again soon. And the mini pixies are stamps I still use often. But the bag?? When I made this, nobody was making their own gift bags! Rubber stamping as an art form was relatively new and people were making cards! Just cards! I got a commission to make 100 Mardi Gras gift bags for a lady in New Orleans and it was a huge thing because no one had seen anything like it before. Now of course, they're all over the place. You can buy them in grocery stores. But then. . .
So maybe it's Sharon's fault. . .Sharon, who has challenged us create something we're old enough to remember. . .that so much of what I'm thinking these days has to do with things past. But every once in a while, I think it's good to have a proper rummage through the attic. Remembering yesterday helps keep today in perspective.
Oh wow this is lovely. The little bunny is so cute.
