The One Note Band
Anton Hect, the project's creator, emailed me and asked if "The One Note Band" was something I'd be interested in featuring on my blog. The piece has an interesting background. Many people were individually filmed in St Michael's Church in Byker Newcastle, U.K. over the course of a day. Playing single notes on various instruments, a note bank was created that the composer, Andy Jackson, used to create the score that you see and hear in the video. Most of the participants had no previous musical experience. Anton Hecht brought it all together, with Richard Lawson on camera. The work was produced by Mathew Lennon for Newcastle City Council as part of the Off-Centre project. The main body of people came from the community group Aspire.
Very, very impressive!
Very creative!

What a brilliant concept, music by the people for the people! It never ceases to amaze me what ideas people come up with. The little boy exiting in his 'wheelie' shoes = funny. Love the 'arches' of St. Michael's as well! Thank you for sharing this interesting piece!!!
