I've been making art for as long as I can remember. My parents blessed me with the freedom to explore, and enrolled me in art lessons at age 4. Thanks to their wisdom, I have continued studying art throughout my life, and I credit their advice with saving me from the pitfalls of "artist block", and from any tendency of criticizing my own work by comparing it to others.
While I was growing up, I spent most of my free time drawing, painting and making mock newspapers and magazines which I distributed freely throughout the neighborhood. I've held lots of un-artistic jobs, but studied fine arts and craft, psychology and interior design at ASU, earning a B.S. in Decorative Arts.
I've taught art and design classes off and on throughout my life. My art has been published in a variety of magazines, art journals, catalogues, and books, and I've won awards at juried shows for my fiber art, drawing and painting.
In recent years, my focus has turned to painting, mixed-media, collage, art journaling and hand bound books. I have kept my art blog, ArtiphyTheHeart, continuously updated since 2007. I continue to coach private and group workshops for adults and children on an invitational basis, and live in Phoenix, AZ with my husband Michael, two children, and our bichon frise, Hoot.
